New Batman ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ Figure Revealed By McFarlane Toys

Frank Miller’s legendary vision of the Dark Knight is getting a fresh treatment in plastic, as McFarlane Toys has unveiled a new Batman figure based on The Dark Knight Returns comics, and this one comes with some notable upgrades over its predecessor.

The new 7-inch figure captures Bruce Wayne’s older, grittier incarnation from Miller’s seminal 1986 miniseries, a story set in a bleak future Gotham where an aging, retired Batman suits up one final time to reclaim the city from overwhelming crime. It’s one of the most celebrated Batman stories ever told, and McFarlane has revisited it with an updated sculpt that leans into the classic look fans know best.

The most striking change from the previous release is the colorway: this version dons Batman’s iconic light blue and gray batsuit, complete with the oversized bat symbol that defines Miller’s distinctive art style. A new fabric cape replaces any prior molded alternative, lending the figure a more dynamic, display-friendly silhouette.

On the accessories front, collectors get a batarang grappling hook, four extra hands for posing variety, a figure display base, and a collectible art card featuring character art on one side and a biography on the reverse — McFarlane’s standard but always appreciated package for the DC Multiverse line.

Under the hood, the figure is built on McFarlane’s Ultra Articulation system, delivering up to 22 moving parts for a wide range of posing options whether you’re going for a shelf display or action-ready stance.

The timing is worth noting: McFarlane has signaled that a Crisis on Infinite Earths event is on the horizon for the DC Multiverse line in 2026, effectively marking a larger reset for the collection. Other recent DC Multiverse pre-orders are already live ahead of that transition, making this wave one of the last before the changeover — and potentially giving it added significance for long-term collectors.

The Batman (Dark Knight Returns) 7″ figure is available for pre-order now at $26.99 through the McFarlane Toys store, with an estimated ship date of June 2026.
