LEGO UCS Death Star 75419 Retirement: When Will It Retire?
Released in October 2025, the UCS Death Star (Set 75419) is currently the most expensive LEGO set you can buy at retail. While not the largest LEGO set ever — that honor belongs to the 11,695-piece LEGO Art World Map — the UCS Death Star is the most expensive retail LEGO set to date, priced at a whopping $999.99.
This massive set, the biggest LEGO Star Wars set ever released, is still widely available at most major retailers, including the LEGO store, Amazon, and others.
Because of its steep price tag, it’s unlikely to sell out right now, which also explains why the average secondary-market price remains close to retail. There’s no strong upward trend yet. However, that could change in the future when LEGO decides to retire the set.
As of right now, LEGO has not officially announced when it will retire the USC Death Star (Set 75419). And they usually don’t announce a retirement date in advance.
That said, many experts and analysts estimate that the set will remain in production through December 31, 2028. This is based on historical trends where typical UCS and other premium LEGO sets remain available on shelves for about three years. Having released in October 2025, we’re looking at a late 2028 retirement date.
Most retired UCS Star Stars sets begin to appreciate after they are no longer sold new at retailers. Data from Brickeconomy.com, reveals that the 2016 Death Star (Set 75159) was retired in November 2020 after 49 months. It’s currently valued at $1,482, indicating an average growth of approximately 9%. This is actually higher than the average annual growth of 6% that most retire LEGO sets see.
Current collect-market forecasts estimate that a sealed UCS Death Star (Set 75419) could be valued between $1,200-$1,260 shortly after it’s retired. That’s a value that will almost certainly go up even more years later.
Reception to the UCS Death Star (Set 75419) has surprisingly been mixed. Many builders and reviewers have praised its sheer scale, ambitious engineer, and detailed interior scenes. It also includes 38 minifigures. Most of the criticism hasn’t really been targeted at the set itself, but instead its $999 price tag. Many just don’t feel that the set justifies its premium price. Expert aggregators gave the set a respectable but not outstanding overall score of 73/100.
