2025 Topps Chrome Football Rookie Rankings: Which Autos Are Actually Worth Chasing?

The 2025 Topps Chrome Football rookie class is stacked. And unlike the unlicensed version from last year, these are the real deal. First licensed Chrome cards. First licensed Topps NFL cards since 2015. That context matters a lot when you are trying to figure out which rookie autos are actually worth your time and money.

We went through the full checklist and ranked the rookies you should be prioritizing. Some of these are obvious. Some might surprise you. All of them have a legitimate reason to be on this list.

A quick note before we get into it: this is not a football analysis column. We are not picking Super Bowl winners. These rankings are based on card collecting factors: market position, team, position, scarcity, and long-term upside as a collectible. On-field performance matters, but it is one part of a bigger picture when it comes to card values.

1. Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans

This one is not even close right now. Ward is the number one overall pick, he plays one of the best positions for card values (quarterback), and he has zero licensed autographs anywhere else on the market. Panini never had him. That first-licensed-auto status is a genuine pricing driver that collectors should not underestimate.

The Tennessee Titans are a mid-market team which would normally be a negative, but for rookies at the QB position it barely matters. If Ward develops into even a solid starter, his early Chrome autos are going to look very attractive a few years from now.

His Rookie PREM1ERE Patch Autograph is the holy grail here. That patch came off his jersey during his first official regular season NFL game. There is only one. Cards like that are not replicated and they do not come back to market often.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto, Rookie Patch Auto, and if you have deep pockets, the PREM1ERE Patch Auto.

2. Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants

Dart is going to be one of the most talked-about rookies in this set and it is not just about football. The story around his Superfractor is genuinely wild for the hobby. Dart personally wrote “1 of 1” on the card himself, in addition to the standard signature. That kind of personal touch is rare and it has already generated serious buzz before boxes even hit shelves.

On top of that, he plays for the New York Giants. Large market, massive fanbase, passionate collector base. New York QBs have a built-in collector premium that follows them whether they win or lose. Think about how long Eli Manning cards held value. That market does not go away.

Dart is the kind of player who could be a perennial conversation piece in the hobby for years depending on how his career unfolds. Getting in early on his Chrome autos while the market is still finding its footing is worth serious consideration.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto, Rookie Patch Auto, and that personally inscribed Superfractor if you ever see it surface.

3. Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Jacksonville Jaguars

Travis Hunter might be the most unique card subject in the entire 2025 class. He plays both ways at the professional level, which has not been done consistently in the NFL in decades. That story sells itself to collectors and casual fans alike. It gives his cards a built-in conversation hook that most rookie cards simply do not have.

His Heisman Trophy win and the attention he drew throughout the draft process also mean his name recognition goes well beyond hardcore football fans. Crossover appeal like that tends to support card values in a way that pure football performance does not always predict.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto. His Tecmo Super Bowl insert auto (if it exists) would be a fun pick-up given the two-way angle.

4. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

Running backs are a tough sell in the modern hobby because the position ages fast and the injury risk is high. That said, Jeanty is worth taking seriously for a few reasons.

He has more checklist appearances than almost any other rookie in this set. He shows up in the Fortune 15 inserts, the Fanatical inserts, the Rookie Patch Autographs, the PREM1ERE Patch Autographs, and the base rookie cards. That kind of visibility across the checklist gives collectors multiple price points to buy in at.

The Las Vegas Raiders are a nationally recognized brand with a large fanbase spread across the country. Raiders cards have historically carried a premium compared to other market-size-equivalent teams.

The risk with Jeanty is the position. Running backs can lose value fast if they hit a wall or get hurt in year two or three. Buy for the short term with RBs unless you have a very specific reason to hold long.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto and numbered parallels. Keep an eye on short-term price movement post-release.

5. Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Carolina Panthers

McMillan is one of those rookies who does not get talked about as loudly as the quarterbacks but has real long-term upside from a card standpoint. He is a big wide receiver with elite catch radius, drafted by a Carolina Panthers team that is going to lean on him heavily from day one.

Wide receivers have some of the best long-term card value potential in the hobby when they hit. If McMillan becomes a clear WR1 in this league, his early Chrome autos are going to look very cheap in a few years. The floor on his cards is reasonable right now and the ceiling is genuinely high.

He also appears in the Fanatical inserts which give collectors another chase option beyond straight autographs.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto. The numbered parallels will be more accessible at launch than the QBs which means a better buy-in window.

6. Shedeur Sanders, QB, Cleveland Browns

Sanders is one of the most polarizing names in this draft class on the football side. But on the card side, his situation is actually interesting.

He plays quarterback in a major market. His last name is one of the most recognizable in football. And he has a passionate, vocal fanbase that follows his career closely regardless of team affiliation. That kind of collector attention drives demand for cards even when the on-field results are mixed.

The Cleveland Browns are not an ideal market for card values but the QB position compensates for that. Sanders autos are going to move volume and they will be actively traded on the secondary market throughout his career.

The risk is the uncertainty around his development and his situation in Cleveland. Buy at a price you are comfortable holding if the market cools.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto. Hold off on numbered parallels until the market sets a clear floor post-release.

7. Abdul Carter, EDGE, New York Giants

Carter is the wild card on this list. Edge rushers do not usually crack rookie auto rankings but Carter is a special case. He plays for the New York Giants in a huge market, he was one of the most hyped defensive players in the draft, and defensive stars in New York tend to carry significant collector premium. Think Lawrence Taylor. Think Michael Strahan.

Edge rusher cards have picked up steam in the hobby in recent years as collectors have realized that dominant defenders hold value almost as well as quarterbacks when they start racking up sacks and Pro Bowl appearances.

Carter is a long-term hold. Do not expect his cards to pop in year one the way a QB would. But if you can get his Chrome autos at a reasonable price now, the upside over a five to ten year window is legitimate.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto. Patience required.

8. Tyler Warren, TE, Indianapolis Colts

Tight ends have become one of the hottest positions in the hobby over the past several years. Travis Kelce changed what collectors think about TE cards, and every elite rookie at the position gets evaluated against that template now.

Warren was one of the consensus top tight ends in this draft class and landed in Indianapolis where he should see immediate target volume. He appears in multiple insert sets in this product including the Fortune 15, which gives him solid checklist depth.

The Colts are not a premium market but tight ends tend to transcend their team a little more than other skill positions because of their utility in modern offenses.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto and Fortune 15 insert if you can find it at a reasonable price.

9. Emeka Egbuka, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Egbuka lands in Tampa Bay with Baker Mayfield, a QB who has shown he can produce for his receivers. That situation bodes well for immediate target opportunities and early stat lines that support card value.

He is one of the more polished route runners in the class and has appeared in several insert sets in this product including the Fanatical inserts and Unleashed. His checklist footprint is solid.

The Tampa Bay market is not huge but the Buccaneers have national brand recognition and a fanbase that spread significantly during the Brady years. That name recognition lingers.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto. Medium-risk, medium-reward pick.

10. Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears

Loveland gets the nod over some louder names because of his situation. He plays tight end in Chicago alongside Caleb Williams, a second-year quarterback who is going to be throwing the ball a lot. Target share for a young TE in that offense could be significant from day one.

The Chicago Bears fanbase is one of the most passionate and largest in the NFL. Cards featuring Bears players move well on the secondary market regardless of team performance. That fanbase premium is real and it supports card values even in down years.

What to chase: Base Chrome Auto. The Bears situation gives him a higher floor than most rookie TEs.
